Feature Overview:
OTO's advanced ruling engine is a powerful automation tool designed to streamline and optimize shipping operations. It eliminates the manual workload for operations teams by automatically selecting the most suitable courier for an order and managing shipment creation efficiently. OTO automatically determines the best courier for each order based on predefined rules and parameters such as cost, delivery speed, or destination. OTO handles shipment generation seamlessly, reducing manual input and errors. Adapt the engine to your unique business needs with flexible and advanced rule configurations.

How to Use the Feature

Step-by-Step Instructions

To Access Feasibility Rule Integration:

Navigate to the Management > Shipping OTOmation on the left sidebar.

Click on the Add Feasibility Rule button.



A form will open for you with the following parameters:

  • Rule Name: This is the name you will give to your rule, it should be unique to avoid confusion and should be detailed to understand the rule easily.

  • Status: It is the status of the rule. You can mark it as ActiveTest Mode and Inactive.

  • Shipment Type: The shipment type to which the rule will be applied. It can be applied only to forward or only to reverse shipments, or both can be selected.

  • Conditions:Set your rule based on certain conditions. There are some parameters you need to fill.

  • Condition Type: You can set your rule based on certain conditions. For example, brand, category, package size, quantity, weight, origin or destination city and country etc.

  • Operator: Here you can find operation options that support the condition such as equal, not equal to, less than, greater than.

  • Value: These are the values we assign to our condition.

  • Actions: By selecting the Assign only or do not assign option, the action that the selected cargo company will take for shipments that comply with these rules is determined.

  • Delivery Company: In the rule, the delivery company that you want to run automatically is selected.


The rule shown in the screenshot states the following: If the shipment weight is less than 10kg and the destination cities are Riyadh, Dammam and boxes count 5, automatically assign the order to OTO flex delivery company for both forward and reverse shipments.


To Access Feasibility Test and OTOmation Test:

  1. Navigate to the Management > Shipping OTOmation on the left sidebar.

  2. Choose Run Feasibility Test or OTOmation Test:

  • Run Feasibility Test: After creating multiple rules, it checks if there is any conflict between these rules.

  • OTOmation Test: With OTOmation test, you can check which rules an order covers. 

  1. OTOmation Test:

  • Add the order number and click on test button:

  • All rules covered by this order will be listed.





Configuration Details

Prerequisites:

Make sure that the warehouses you want to create automatic shipments for are active.

  • Navigate to the Management > Warehouses

  • Choose Contact Info

  • Enable the Automatically Create Shipments



















Troubleshooting and FAQs


Common Issues and Solutions:

Issue: Orders are not being routed to the delivery company specified in the feasibility rule.


Solution: Make sure rule status is not set to Inactive or Test Mode. There is no conflicting conditions between multiple rules and the rule conditions match the order details.


Issue: The delivery company dropdown does not show the desired courier.


Solution: Confirm that the delivery company is configured in the system. Check if the courier is available for the selected shipment type or region.

 

Issue: The Run Feasibility Test highlights conflicts between multiple rules.

Solution: Adjust rule conditions to ensure uniqueness and avoid overlaps. If needed, define rule priority levels to resolve conflicts and specify which rule should take precedence.
