Picking Orders

Modified on Thu, 6 Mar at 2:35 PM

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the picking process for OTO PACK Basic and OTO PACK Advanced (without Bin Tracking). Picking is a critical step in the fulfillment process unless the "Deactivate Picking Operation" option is enabled in your settings.

Methods for Picking Orders

1. Picking with the OTO PACK Mobile App (Recommended)

The OTO PACK Mobile App is the most efficient and accurate tool for picking orders. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Log in and View Assigned Orders

    • The Assigned Picker logs into the OTO PACK Mobile App.

    • A list of orders assigned to the picker is displayed. For OTO PACK Advanced, pickers can pull orders when needed if configured.

  2. Select Orders to Pick

    • The picker selects one or multiple orders from the list.

    • Click the Pick button to start the picking process.

  1. Pick Items Using Scanning or Manually

    • Items can be picked manually or by scanning their barcodes.

    • Recommendation: Use scanning to improve picking accuracy and avoid errors.

  2. Complete Picking

    • After picking all items successfully, click the Green button at bottom right.

    • If there are missing items, the order is marked as Partially Picked.

      • Refer to the Partial Picking Scenarios article for guidance on handling partially picked orders.

  1. Move to Packing

    • Once all items are picked, the order is automatically moved to the Packing process.

2. Marking Orders as Picked from the Dashboard

This method is not recommended as it bypasses the accuracy benefits of scanning or manual picking verification. However, it can serve as a workaround in specific situations.

  1. Go to the Shipments page on the dashboard.

  2. Locate the desired order under the Pending Orders tab.

  3. Use the Tools menu and select Mark As Picked.

Why Choose the Mobile App?

The mobile app ensures picking accuracy and provides real-time tracking of the process. Marking orders as picked from the dashboard should only be used sparingly, as it doesn’t verify the actual picking of items.
