Bins and Zones: The Backbone of Your Warehouse Organization
In any warehouse, bins and zones are essential tools for maintaining efficiency and accuracy. OTO PACK Advanced gives you the power to track bin inventory in real-time and streamline your operations. Here’s a complete guide to setting up and linking your bins and zones for optimized workflows.
What Are Bins?
Bins are addresses within your warehouse, representing specific locations where products are stored or moved. They can take many forms:
Shelves: Like put/pick bins.
Floor Areas: Such as receive bins.
Movable Containers: Like trolley bins.
Each bin type serves a unique purpose in your warehouse. The following are the types of bins you can create in OTO PACK:
Receive: Where products are received before processing.
Put/Pick: Common storage areas for picking and restocking.
Pack/Ship: Dedicated to packing and shipping operations.
Sorting Stations: For temporarily holding items between picking and sorting processes.
Trolley: Movable bins used during operations.
Return, Adjustment, Storage: For special purposes such as returns or non-sellable items.
To maintain bin accuracy, it’s essential to document every movement in OTO PACK, ensuring your physical operations match the digital inventory.
What Are Zones?
Zones represent larger sections of the warehouse and are critical for improving efficiency, especially during the picking process. With Zone Picking, orders are divided by zone, reducing the travel time for pickers. While zones currently enhance picking operations, they will form the foundation for more advanced features in the future.
